My spouse was killed in the line of duty in a helicopter crash. The Thin Blue Line of Michigan offered immediate support for grief counseling, documentation of benefits available and the process for recovery. During the initial meeting the sharing of their knowledge and education made us all feel like we could continue to live. Upon completion of the initial meeting we better understood our responsibilities, the pending benefits that would be filed by the Thin Blue Line of Michigan, paperwork that would need to be completed by the department or the family and the expectations for the upcoming year emotionally. I received emotional understanding, accounting and financial counseling through professionals associated with the organization. We better understood the support network available for the family both emotionally and financially.
